ERONet App

ERONet App

What this app is about?

ERONet App is a mobile application that provides ECI officers with convenient, on-the-go access to the functions of the ERONet portal. Following are the functions of the ERONet App:

  • Checking form status.

  • Dashboard for form processing, E-Roll, Polling Station, User Management, NGSP.

  • Search Electoral, Track Application Status.

  • Approving user creation requests, profile edit requests, and forgot password requests.

  • View complaints from citizens or political parties.

  • Send notifications to their subordinates.

My Role

Responsible for the overall app design.

Constraints

  • Information sources to design the product were secondary.

  • No information about the design expectation of client.

  • User feedback wasn’t shared nor user interactions happened.

  • Design team wasn’t the part of any client call or other interactions.

Information source

Our users

Officer at Election Commission of India, who wanted to have an easy to access for the information irrespective of where they are. Having control over who their Subordinates and their team are doing. The idea was that laptop and tablet are often not easy to carry in comparison to mobile. A quiack and easy way to view the required information was an app as per the client.

Defining

It should stay consistent with the web app, so that user find it easy to navigate if they remember the path on the web or vice versa.

Designing

Iterations

A cleaner view

I considered the ECI’s thoughts on scrolling which they wanted to be less, wherever possible. The one that I created, I created it with the same thought at the same time I considered if the number goes to lakhs it won’t run out of space as the client also not wanted anything to go truncate.
In the revision the client want the table to be more clean and clear. This was the best that came to my mind. Because even if there is any new filter they wanted to add in the future that would be possible to add without disturbing the design.
Also, the good part of this design is user can see the Count in one eye movement that is vertically unlike previous design that required both vertical and horizontal movement.

Adding the form filter at the top was part of the new requirement post building the product.

Easy list editor

When it’s list that is to be shown one thing which prompts first is a probably drop-down, which certainly isn’t the most appropriate choice always.
In the very first image, I tried to build a drop-down with check-box, which I later changed to what is shown in the second image. Because how long will the user be scrolling in that small area so I changed that with a button to add which opens the overlay and allows the user to scroll the full-screen. Now that cross option found difficult to carry up in the development, developers asked to make it more easy.
So I removed that and addition and removal was now a part of the same overlay which comes on clicking DEO List or ERO List. Same can be visible on clicking 20 more or 1 more.
